Beth Cave joins IPREX as regional director

ATLANTA: Beth Cave has joined international agency network IPREX as its first Asia Pacific director. Based in Hong Kong, Cave will work to drive business development and partner recruitment. Cave has 17 years of experience both in-house and as a consultant advising international businesses.

IBI hires Hawlen Bay Consulting for IR services

TORONTO: IBI, a junior international mining and investment company, has selected Hawlen Bay Consulting for IR services, effective December 15. In a statement, IBI president and CEO, Gary A. Fitchett, said the company has been building its gold and uranium business and is now ready to communicate with the investment community via an expanded IR effort. Hawlen Bay will work with Dennis Mellersh, IBI’s director of communications and IR, to target private investors, investment clubs, fund managers, brokers, and analysts.

Harley-Davidson appoints VP of communications

MILWAUKEE, WI: Harley-Davidson hired Susan Henderson as VP of communications, reporting to CEO Jim Ziemer. Henderson, who most recently was VP of corporate communications for the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company in Chicago, will develop and direct Harley-Davidson’s global strategic communications initiatives.

Elan names Stutts head of corporate relations

NEW YORK: Elan Corporation named Mary Stutts as SVP and head of corporate relations, effective November 24. Stutts, who worked in corporate relations at Genentech for seven years, reports to CEO Kelly Martin. She is responsible for public policy communications, patient advocacy strategy, internal communications, online communication, external communications, and media and brand positioning at the biotech company. It is a new position.

Madison Square Garden hires VP of comms

NEW YORK: Madison Square Garden (MSG) named Justin Edelman the VP of communications, reporting to SVP of communications, Barry Watkins. Edelman, most recently a VP in the sports and sponsorship practice at the firm Edelman, will work on strategic planning and PR management for MSG and its properties, including providing counsel for corporate initiatives.

Rubbermaid taps Ketchum for global tech biz unit

ATLANTA: Newell Rubbermaid (NR) recently named Ketchum as its global AOR for its technology global business unit, which offers technology solutions and interactive classroom programs. Led from the Ketchum South office in Atlanta, the agency will globally support brand communications for its office and interactive technology product portfolio, including DYMO and CardScan. It was a competitive review.

Schwartz named VP at Powell Tate

LOUISVILLE, KY: Humana launched a viral healthcare education campaign called “Stay Smart Stay Healthy” on November 10. The Louisville, KY-based health insurer created 10 videos that are being uploaded to a new Web site and to a . The focus of the videos is “the big questions that consumers are asking us,” said Edward Batchelor, corporate director of Web and new media strategy for Humana. Video topics include the definition of consumer-driven healthcare, the difference between HMOs and PPOs, and the history of healthcare in the US. There is no marketing or PR campaign in place but Humana is testing the “viral nature” of educational videos for future projects, Batchelor said.
