WE’s Studio D snags TheMediaIsDying founder

BOSTON: Waggener Edstrom hired Paul Armstrong as senior digital consultant for Studio D in EMEA, effective March 25. Armstrong most recently managed consumer corporate communications for MySpace; he is also known for creating Twitter feed, which he will continue to helm. In his new position, London-based Armstrong will play a key role in shaping online content for existing and new clients.

Berard launches strategic consultancy

SAN FRANCISCO: John Berard has launched Credible Context, a communications consultancy advocating consistent messaging. Berard plans to combine his experience in financial, corporate, and technology communications in the new venture. Berard is a former MD of the Zeno Group’s now defunct San Francisco office.

DFW issues RFP

DALLAS: Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport has issued an RFP that closes in early April. The scope of work includes PR and public affairs services for the airport board, including strategic planning, consultation, media relations, measurement, crisis communications, event coordination, and media training. Burson-Marsteller has worked with DFW for four years and will repitch the business, according to the agency.

Carabiner names Cabrera to lead new service

ATLANTA: Carabiner Communications has named Kathy Cabrera as director of new media to lead the rollout of its new social media and video service, Social Connector. In her new role, Cabrera will help create new programs spanning the online group and building via LinkedIn, Twitter, and individually branded communities; blog monitoring and posting; and online video and podcast creation and distribution.

NIA enlists GolinHarris Public Affairs

WASHINGTON: The National Insulation Association (NIA) has selected GolinHarris Public Affairs to build awareness for commercial and industrial insulation’s role in improving buildings’ energy efficiency. The account will be led by Michael Schmidt, VP and senior member of the agency’s sustainability practice, GeoImpact. GHPA will educate industry and policymakers on commercial and industrial insulation — collectively known as mechanical insulation.

Trevelino/Keller wins Ian Thomas Group

ATLANTA: Trevelino/Keller Communications Group has added the Ian Thomas Group to its technology roster.  Headquartered in Atlanta, the Ian Thomas Group provides strategic and tactical software performance engineering services.  T/K will build the company’s core messaging and press materials, executing an analyst and media relations campaign surrounding product launches, as well as manage a visibility program for Kevin Mobley, founder of the Ian Thomas Group.

Ask.com promotes Osako to chief communications officer

Nash joins Levi Strauss

SAN FRANCISCO: Levi Strauss & Co. has hired Jill Nash as chief communications officer and VP of corporate affairs. Nash recently left Yahoo, where she was chief communications officer and led the company’s worldwide communications efforts. Prior to working at Yahoo, Nash was VP of global communications for Gap Inc.

Almacy joins Edelman

WASHINGTON: David Almacy has joined Edelman as SVP, digital public affairs. Almacy was previously VP, digital strategies at Waggener Edstrom. In 2005, former President George W. Bush named Almacy Internet and e-communications director for the White House. He served in that role for two years prior to joining Waggener Edstrom in 2007.
