Bateman Group picks up two AOR accounts

SAN FRANCISCO: The Bateman Group has added two new clients, both AOR relationships. Canadian IT firm Platform Computing and IT security think tank the Jericho Forum, selected the firm after competitive pitches.

Yogen Fruz gets Fingerprint for AOR

NEW YORK: Yogen Fruz, the Canada-based frozen yogurt company that has expanded into the US and elsewhere, hired Fingerprint Communications as AOR, effective March 15. The agency will handle PR, marketing, and celebrity relations for the company from its Los Angeles and New York offices.

BW appoints Tjin country manager for Canada

TORONTO: Business Wire (BW) appointed Derick Tjin country manager for Canada, effective March 12. He will direct the company’s nationwide operations, which includes sales offices in Calgary and Vancouver. Tjin previously worked in sales and marketing management positions at the Canadian Press, and in other positions at BCE Emergis’ E-News and ISDN, the TSX Group. Most recently he was a consultant to Nasdaq.

Brooks Brothers hires APEX PR

TORONTO: American apparel retailer Brooks Brothers has selected APEX Public Relations as its AOR in Canada. The agency will handle national media relations for the spring and fall collections, as well as PR supporting the grand opening of the first Brooks Brothers location for Vancouver this May.

Bridge Global Strategies opens a Toronto office

NEW YORK: Bridge Global Strategies, a New York-based boutique firm, opened a Toronto office on March 1, to help Canadian companies with their US PR needs. The Canadian office is being led by Jill Lewis, communications director for Bridge Global Strategies.

Porter Airlines selects Zeno Group for new route

TORONTO: Porter Airlines has hired the Zeno Group to provide PR support for the recent launch of its US service between Toronto and Chicago. The agency’s duties include media outreach, a launch event, and a VIP cocktail reception for influencers in Chicago. The new route was announced late last year, and implemented in January.

ACDL hires Canadian firm for North American tourism outreach

TORONTO: Asian Coast Development Ltd. (ACDL) hired Pilot PMR to provide integrated communications support for its Ho Tram Strip, the Las Vegas-style destination being developed on the South China Sea. The Canadian agency, which will work on various initiatives throughout 2009, will handle North American media relations and publicity in Canada and the US, corporate communications, and PR counsel, focusing initially on the MGM Grand Ho Tram.

Renee’s Gourmet hires Strategic Objectives

Fleishman-Hillard Canada hires Solberg

OTTAWA: Fleishman-Hillard Canada hired Hon. Monte Solberg as a senior adviser. Solberg, who was a member of the federal Cabinet from 2006 to 2008, will be based in the agency’s Calgary office and will provide strategic counsel to a variety of clients.
