Fleishman-Hillard hires Walkowiak as SVP

ST LOUIS: Fleishman-Hillard named Bill Walkowiak SVP of the agency’s corporate and financial practice, effective November 17. Walkowiak, a former VP of IR and corporate communications at Edo Corp. in New York, is based in St. Louis and reports to Tim Beecher, SVP and senior partner for Fleishman-Hillard. He is providing IR, financial communications, and crisis management counsel to local and global clients.

Fleishman-Hillard taps Wedgbury to lead Canada

TORONTO: Fleishman-Hillard recently tapped Mia Wedgbury as president of Canada. Wedgbury oversees Fleishman-Hillard Canada and iStudio, in addition to cofounding High Road Communications.

Fleishman-Hillard promotes three execs to regional president

ST LOUIS: Fleishman-Hillard recently promoted three senior executives to regional president posts. Martha Boudreau, most recently the Washington, DC, office’s GM, is now president of the mid-Atlantic. She oversees offices in Atlanta, North Carolina, and Latin America. In addition, Nancy Seliger is president of US East. Most recently she was regional director of the Boston office and partner agency CPR Worldwide, and GM of the New York office. Susan Veidt will be president of US central; she previously served as GM of the St. Louis office and regional director of the central region.

Korn/Ferry hires Dan Gugler

LOS ANGELES: Talent management company Korn/Ferry hired Dan Gugler as senior director of marketing and communications, effective October 20. In this new position, Gugler, who comes to Korn/Ferry from Fleishman-Hillard where he was SVP, will oversee marketing and communications initiatives and will play a key role in brand transformation at Korn/Ferry.

Dorland hires Morrissey as president

PHILADELPHIA: Camela Morrissey will join Dorland Global PR as president, effective November 10, replacing Nancy Bacher Long, who served as president since 1992. Morrissey will oversee the agency’s PR in all three offices. She is a former SVP and partner of Fleishman-Hillard, where she also served as chairperson of the firm’s biotech practice. Most recently, Morrissey was VP for public affairs, marketing, and patient satisfaction at New York Hospital Queens.

Flagship Group taps Fleishman as AOR

SAN DIEGO: The Flagship Group, the development company behind the Tiger Woods-designed Punta Brava, hired Fleishman-Hillard as AOR. The agency, which is running the account from its San Diego, Los Angeles, and Mexico City offices, kicked off its work with the public unveiling of Punta Brava on October 7. After winning a competitive RFP in July, Fleishman will provide full-service communications to The Flagship Group, including corporate visibility and work with the Group’s conservation and philanthropic programs.

St. Baldrick’s launches viral awareness campaign

PASADENA, CA: St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a nonprofit that raises funding for childhood cancer research, launched an awareness campaign September 1. Fleishman-Hillard, AOR for the foundation, is providing support. The campaign encourages people to submit videos to YouTube of shaving events -  when family and friends shave their heads in solidarity with children who lose their hair during treatment for cancer. The video that is viewed the most will be added to St. Baldrick’s Web site at the end of the month. It is the first time the foundation has used a viral component for an awareness campaign.

Fleishman acquires Paul Wilmot Comms

NEW YORK: Fleishman-Hillard has acquired a majority stake in Paul Wilmot Communications, an agency specializing in fashion, beauty, and lifestyle PR. According to a statement, the Paul Wilmot firm will continue to serve clients under the Paul Wilmot brand. Its clients include Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Oscar de la Renta, and M.A.C cosmetics, among others. Fleishman will work to expand the brand to other markets; Los Angeles, London and Tokyo are under consideration. 

“Bringing Paul’s strong brand and agency team into the Fleishman-Hillard family is a tremendous complement to two of our fastest-growing practices, entertainment and consumer marketing, as well as to our emerging luxury marketing practice,” Dave Senay, Fleishman’s president and CEO, said in a statement.

Wyeth hires McIntyre as VP of corporate communications

MADISON, NJ: Wyeth named Daniel McIntyre VP of corporate communications, effective August 1. McIntyre reports to Timothy Cost, SVP of corporate affairs, and is responsible for internal and external communications related to the company and three global divisions, which include pharmaceuticals, consumer healthcare, and animal health. He was the MD of the healthcare practice for Fleishman-Hillard’s international communications.

Tourism Australia taps Fleishman-Hillard for PR contract

SYDNEY: Tourism Australia selected Fleishman-Hillard for a three-year contract after a competitive bid, the agency said today, August 20. Fleishman’s Los Angeles office is managing the account. Tourism Australia, a statutory authority of the Australian government, promotes tourism, domestically and internationally, and is based in Sydney.
