Publicis acquires Act Now

PARIS: Publicis Groupe has acquired San Francisco-based sustainability consultancy Act Now. The consultancy, which specializes in helping organizations and their employees practice sustainability without sacrificing performance, will become a part of Saatchi & Saatchi S Network. Act Now founder Adam Werbach has been appointed CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi S and will report to Andy Murray, global CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi X.

African Resort Chain Signs with Imagine Communications

NEW YORK: Rani Resorts, a chain of luxury resorts in Mozambique, has tapped boutique firm Imagine Global Communications as its AOR for US outreach. The agency, which specializes in travel and tourism, will work to raise the profile of Mozambique as an emerging ocean getaway, and promote Rani’s collection of hotels, private islands, and safari destinations in the African country.

Latinvox becomes Vox Collective

NEW YORK: Latinvox, one of the nation’s leading Hispanic firms has changed its name and focus. Now known as the “vox collective,” the Latin term for collective voices, the full-service agency, which provided such clients as Macy’s and Verizon Wireless with Hispanic marketing support, will broaden its multicultural clientele branch into cause-related, interactive, and lifestyle marketing.

Forbes.com Taps Scharler for Top Communications Job

NEW YORK: Forbes.com, the online complement to the high-profile business magazine, announced that Melanie Scharler has joined the company as director of corporate communications. Scharler comes to Forbes.com from Disney Publishing Worldwide, where she was a senior manager in the communications department. At Forbes.com, she will oversee business-related internal and external communications.

DiLorenzo named NHL comms director

NEW YORK: The NHL named Michael DiLorenzo to the new position of director of corporate communications, reporting to SVP of communications Bernadette Mansur. DiLorenzo was previously the founder of Rising Tide Public Relations and has also served as chief marketing officer for FASTHockey. DiLorenzo said his new duties will include media relations focusing on national, consumer, and technology publications and promoting new media content on the NHL.com Web site, new sponsorship deals, and the NHL’s overall “corporate success story.”

Smirnov new DeVries president

NEW YORK: DeVries Public Relations announced a number of executive promotions. Former EVP Stephanie Smirnov is now president, filling a position that had been vacant for about a year. Former EVP Cliff Berman is now general manager. Michael Thomas, previously VP of finance at Weber Shandwick, joins DeVries as CFO. Finally, DeVries promoted former MD Lisa Pearson to EVP.

Koroberi appoints Hainsworth and director of PR

Kaigler resigns from Reebok/Adidas, joins Nintendo

REDMOND, WA: Nintendo of America has announced that Denise Kaigler will join the company as VP of marketing and corporate affairs, effective February 18. Kaigler will oversee all aspects of corporate affairs, including corporate communications, PR, government affairs, IR and analyst relations, and internal communications, and play a key role in global coordination. Previously, Kaigler spent 16 years at Reebok/Adidas Group. She was head of global corporate communications and corporate citizenship for Reebok and head of corporate communications in the US for Adidas.

AWHONN hires Environics

WASHINGTON: The Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) has hired Environics Communications to create and manage a PR program this year. The 22,000-member group focuses on the care of women and infants. Outreach will target the public, mass media, health care providers, and policymakers. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

1Vault selects Seitz as AOR

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL: 1Vault Network, a provider of disaster recovery and hosted IT servers in South Florida, has hired Seitz as AOR. PR and advertising outreach will initially focus on medium and large public and private corporations in South Florida. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
