Dell CMO to leave

ROUND ROCK, TX: Dell CMO Mark Jarvis will be stepping down from the post at the end of Dell’s fiscal quarter. Jarvis spent 14 years at Oracle before he joined Dell. He will remain a consultant through the transition process. Erin Nelson, VP of marketing, Dell EMEA, will replace Jarvis as CMO.

Jackson Spalding gets Purchasing Power

ATLANTA: Purchasing Power, which offers a benefit program for employees to purchase computers and other electronics, hired Jackson Spalding as its branding agency, effective January 5. The agency, which will work in partnership with market research communications firm The Bantam Group, will raise awareness of the company among key audiences and will launch marketing and branding initiatives throughout 2009.

RLPR adds two

LOS ANGELES: RL Public Relations added two new clients to its roster at the end of 2008. Skincare company Clarins Group hired the agency as Hispanic AOR, effective January 1, and for Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market, the agency now handles Hispanic media relations in California, Arizona, and Nevada, effective November 1.

Catalina Hotel & Beach Club hires Rubenstein for national campaign

Burson ended work on Pakistan account in March

NEW YORK: Burson-Marsteller ended a relationship with the ruling party of Pakistan in March, an agency source confirmed. Politico first reported the news December 29. The source confirmed the accuracy of the outlet’s report, including that the agency is in the process of filing government paperwork to disclose the end of the account.

Northern Trust names Holt SVP of corporate comms

CHICAGO: Northern Trust hired Douglas Holt as SVP of corporate communications, effective September 15. Holt, a former SVP of corporate communications at Citadel Investment Group, replaced Rich Jurek. Whole Foods retains Glover Park for FTC lawsuit

AUSTIN, TX: Whole Foods Market has hired Washington-based public affairs agency The Glover Park Group for lobbying efforts for its antitrust case against the Federal Trade Commission. Lanny Davis, partner at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe and former special counsel to President Bill Clinton, who was also retained by the retailer, told PRWeek that he recommended Whole Foods hire Glover Park for the multi-faceted effort.
