Conference Board names new director of communications

NEW YORK: The Conference Board, the independent, nonprofit management and marketplace information center, has named Frank Tortorici as its new director of communications. He was formerly the group’s associate director of communications. Earlier in his career, Tortorici worked for agencies including Edelman and Robert Marston Corporate Communications.

Virilion hires Deutsch

WASHINGTON: Virilion, a full service interactive firm, has hired Ken Deutsch to lead its public affairs practice. Deutsch was formerly the creator of DirectChange.org, which raises funds for grassroots projects in Africa. Previously, he ran the Internet practice at Issue Dynamics.
