Talecris expands relationship with Capstrat

RALEIGH, NC: Capstrat has had their work with Talecris Biotherapeutics expanded to promote plasma donation and support the growing demand for the products. The North Carolina-based firm was originally engaged to assist with the company’s marketing and communications needs. While continuing to work with the parent company, the expanded work will be for Talecris Plasma Resources.

bluPRint grows with new executives, partner

LOS ANGELES: Jennifer Wolinetz-Feldman has joined luxury-and-lifestyle firm bluPRint Public Relations as agency partner. Most recently, Wolinetz-Feldman was VP of PR for Victoria’s Secret Pink; she has also held positions as executive director of PR and special events for Avon Future, and senior-level roles at New York-based PR agencies Loving & Weintraub and Carins Associates. Additionally Elizabeth Murphy joins the firm as VP and Lisa Forst joins as director of special projects.

Don Bates and Master’s program at GWU

WASHINGTON: Don Bates is leaving Media Distribution Services (MDS) after 10 years to become the academic director for the new Master’s program in Strategic PR at George Washington University. Bates, who has taught previously at Columbia University and New School University, will continue as an advisor and consultant at MDS. The GWU Master’s program will launch in the fall offering both a graduate certificate and a Master of Professional Studies degree. The programs will study ethics, new media, and PR convergence with other communications functions, such as advertising and government affairs.

Page Society selects Burson

NEW YORK: The Arthur W. Page Society has selected Burson-Marsteller to help support its 2007 major initiatives. The Page Society selected Burson after an RFP whittled agencies down to three finalists. Most of the work will be on a pro-bono basis. The agency is tasked with positioning the Society as a thought leader to key audiences. It will also assist with the upcoming release of a Page Mission Task Force’s white paper. The agency will work with Dawn Hanson, communications director of the Page Society.

Glickman steps into VP role at BNC

LOS ANGELES: Amy Glickman has joined Bragman Nyman Cafarelli (BNC) as a VP in the firm’s growing corporate entertainment area. Based in Los Angeles, Glickman will work with BNC clients including SBE Entertainment, Baldwin Entertainment Group, Montreal Comedy Festival, Endemol USA, and “Declare Yourself,” Norman Lear’s youth-voter initiative. Before joining BNC, Glickman most recently served as a VP in the corporate entertainment-lifestyle division at New York-based Rubenstein Communications.

Breathe LA calls on Robinson Shimizu

LOS ANGELES: Breathe California of Los Angeles County (Breathe LA) has hired Julia Robinson Shimizu as director of marketing and communications. In her new role, Robinson Shimizu will be responsible for overseeing outreach and awareness efforts on behalf of Breathe LA’s research and advocacy programs to promote lung health. Prior to joining Breathe LA, Robinson Shimizu served as director of marketing and development for LA-based nonprofit Penny Lane.

Somerville wins two Noble House accounts

LOS ANGELES: Two boutique hotel properties in the Seattle-based Noble House Hotels & Resorts collection have selected Somerville Associates to handle media relations and consumer PR. The Los Angeles-based firm will oversee awareness-building efforts for the newly renovated Portofino Hotel & Yacht Club in Redondo Beach, CA, and Paradise Point Resort & Spa in San Diego.

Two AOR wins for H&S

NEW YORK: Harrison & Shriftman has been named AOR for two new accounts, the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas and The Residences at Jumeriah Essex House in New York. The firm already serves as AOR for the Jumeriah Essex House hotel.

Carmichael Lynch Spong hires three senior level executives

MINNEAPOLIS, MN: Carmichael Lynch Spong has named Matthias Beckmann principal and chair of the firm’s technology practice. Beckmann joins Carmichael Lynch Spong from Zoom Marketing where he worked for seven years, directing account teams for high-tech companies. Carmichael Lynch Spong has also hired Jay Musolf and Kristine Vernier as counselors. Jay Musolf has been named counselor and chair of the newly-formed Youth Marketing Practice Group, based in the Minneapolis office. Kristine Vernier has been named PR counselor and will be based out of Benton Harbor, MI, providing PR counsel for the Maytag brand revitalization initiatives and product introductions.
