Cooney Waters working on H5N1 vaccine

NEW YORK: Sanofi Pasteur received a boost on Tuesday when an advisory panel for the Food and Drug Administration backed the company’s vaccine for H5N1, commonly known as bird flu. Cooney Waters Group is working with the Paris-based company on the vaccine as it continues to work towards approval.

Brunswick hires Milunovich as partner

NEW YORK: Brunswick Group has hired Steven Milunovich as its newest partner in New York. Milunovich joins Brunswick from Merrill Lynch, where he was an MD and a senior sell-side analyst. In his new role, he will concentrate on strengthening the agency’s IR practice, and will work in the technology sector as well.

Zelkowitz joins APCO as SVP

NEW YORK: APCO Worldwide announced former Taylor Rafferty MD Jeff Zelkowitz has joined the firm as SVP, helping provide counsel on corporate and financial communications. APCO said Zelkowitz will advise clients on such issues as crisis management, business diplomacy, and strategic repositioning.

360JMG names Massaro creative director

WASHINGTON: Joe Massaro has joined 360JMG as creative director, overseeing the communications firm’s design studio and production of advertising, collateral materials, Web sites, and direct mail. Massaro has previously worked at Ogilvy & Mather and J. Walter Thompson, and most recently was VP and senior art director at McCann LA.

Moery heads SmartBrief’s association relations

WASHINGTON: Newsletter publisher SmartBrief announced that J.P. Moery is now EVP of association relations, overseeing partnership development and customer relations. Moery most recently was SVP of the US Chamber of Commerce’s federation relations division and previously has served as VP of grassroots organization for the American Trucking Associations.

Burson promotes Zucker

CHICAGO: Burson-Marsteller has promoted Bill Zucker to the position of Midwest market leader in Chicago. His appointment is part of an organizational change designed to boost the company’s business development and client engagement. Zucker will continue in his role as MD in the media practice, where he has led many efforts to counsel clients on media relations and issues management, including helping the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association handle the first US case of BSE (mad cow disease).

Manning joins Cherry Marketing Institute

LANSING, MI: The Cherry Marketing Institute has hired Jeff Manning as CMO. The CMI is a trade organization for the North American tart cherry growers and processors industry. Manning was credited with conceiving the Got Milk? campaign, as executive director of the California Milk Processors Board (CMPB). After leaving the CMPB, he created his own agency, called Got Manning?

Miller goes to Disneyland

ANAHEIM, CA: The Disneyland Resort has named Lynda Miller director of print, photography, and convergence media. Previously head of publicity for Los Angeles-based trade publication The Hollywood Reporter, in her new role, Miller is responsible for leading a team in outreach efforts that include increasing Disneyland media coverage and enhancing the resort’s PR-related online offerings.

Double E expands to LA

LOS ANGELES: Double E Communications, a New York-based digital arts, design, and technology PR firm, has opened a Los Angeles-area office to better serve West Coast clients and media.
