Edelman names Scerba Latin America COO

NEW YORK: Edelman has named Tim Scerba as its new COO for Latin America. Scerba was president and CEO of Edelman’s operations in Mexico. In his newly created role, he will lead efforts to integrate client work in Latin America, and continue to run the Mexico City office.

E.M. Stephens adds 3 clients

Crosland names Smith-Hamilton VP

CHARLOTTE, NC: Crosland, the Southeastern US real estate company, has named Julianne Smith-Hamilton as VP of marketing and technology. Smith-Hamilton will direct the company’s market research, communications, and IT functions. This promotion, along with others on staff and the appointment of a new president for the company’s residential division, come as a result of the company’s growth.

MKC touts new client

NEW YORK: Author Gwyneth Cravens hired The Morris & King Company (MKC) to promote her upcoming book, Power to Save the World: The Truth About Nuclear Energy, set to be released on October 31, 2007 by Knopf.

Cravens, author of five novels and former New Yorker fiction editor and Harper’s Magazine associate editor, looks at the myths, fears, and truth about nuclear energy while arguing for nuclear power as a safe energy source and an essential deterrent to global warming.

Kingsley to step down as head of PMK/HBH

LOS ANGELES: Pat Kingsley is stepping down as CEO of PMK/HBH, the publicity-focused agency that she cofounded in 1980. Partners Cindi Berger and Simon Halls will now become co-CEOs of the firm. Nate Schreiber, EVP of brands and events, will also be elevated to the role of president. Kingsley will continue working with clients in her new role as nonexecutive chairman.

Carson joins Powell Tate as EVP

WASHINGTON: Peter D.A. Carson, formerly SVP and co-founder of Ogilvy PR’s health policy group, has joined Powell Tate as EVP and head of the firm’s healthcare public affairs practice. Carson is a former chief of staff to Rep. Christopher Shays (R-CT). In other news, Jeffrey D. Smokler, previously director of public and corporate affairs for BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, joins Powell Tate as VP, while Jenny Mayfield, in charge of Powell Tate’s advocacy relations work for Genentech, has been promoted to VP.
