Schwartz realigns executive management

WALTHAM, MA: Schwartz Communications has promoted Bryan Scanlon, previously EVP and GM of the agency’s San Francisco office, to president. Cofounder Steve Schwartz will relinquish his president title but remains as the CEO. Simultaneously, the Massachusetts-based firm promoted Ari Milstein to COO. He also retains his previous position of CFO. Scanlon and Milstein report to Schwartz. Paula Mae Schwartz, formerly COO, will move to focusing on HR where she takes on the title of “chief people officer.”

The married pair - Steve and Paula Mae - will now spend more time on their film company, Chockstone Pictures, where they are both principals, according to an agency statement.

College Hill opens SF office

SAN FRANCISCO: College Hill, a business communications consultancy headquartered in London, has opened an office in San Francisco. The new office will have a strong focus on the life sciences sector, providing a US service both for College Hill’s international life sciences clients as well as expanding its US client base. The firm named Erik Clausen as partner and GM of the new office. He most recently led the West Coast healthcare group for Schwartz Communications.

Olson joins Kosmix from Text 100

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA: Kosmix has named Jodi Olson to the new position of head of corporation communications. Olson joins the startup from Text 100, and previously worked at Schwartz Communications and Hill & Knowlton. Kosmix’s search engine aggregates Web content highlighting not just news, but videos, and e-commerce, too. It has raised $55 million in funding.

InnovationRx launches pilot medication adherence campaign

NEWTON, MA: InnovationRx, a prescription management and medication adherence service provider, launched a campaign October 6  to raise awareness among pharmacists and their patients in California about medication adherence. Schwartz Communications, the company’s AOR since April, is providing support for the month-long pilot campaign. InnovationRx is also partnering with the American Pharmacists Association, the FDA Office of Women’s Health, and the Pharmacists Planning Service to provide information packets about medication adherence to 800 independent pharmacies statewide. Patients may skip taking medications because of the costs, fear of side effects, or not understanding the importance of the medication.

Schwartz to offer customized PR packages for tech event

WALTHAM, MA: Schwartz Communications is providing three customized PR packages for companies that attend the Mobile World Congress in February 2009. The mobile industry event, which is held in Barcelona, hosts companies from around the world. The Waltham, MA-based technology and healthcare agency launched a portal www.schwartz-pr.com/mwc and is offering award and conference submission drafts, media outreach, press conference and roundtable production, and news release and media alerts, based on a company’s individual needs and budget.

Schwartz adds search marketing service

WALTHAM, MA: Schwartz Communications will offer an integrated search marketing service to complement PR campaigns for its clients, the Waltham, MA-based agency said May 20. Market-Vantage, a marketing firm in Groton, MA, will work exclusively with Schwartz Communications to add search engine optimization and pay-per-click advertising to campaigns.
