Olson joins Kosmix from Text 100

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA: Kosmix has named Jodi Olson to the new position of head of corporation communications. Olson joins the startup from Text 100, and previously worked at Schwartz Communications and Hill & Knowlton. Kosmix’s search engine aggregates Web content highlighting not just news, but videos, and e-commerce, too. It has raised $55 million in funding.

Text 100 closes Seattle office

NEW YORK: Text 100 has closed its Seattle office as part of the layoffs it conducted earlier this month, said Scott Friedman, regional director for Text 100 North America. The Seattle office employed a five-person PR team. “Our intention is to maintain a presence in the market through a variety of forms,” Friedman added. The agency will retain some operational staff in the area and plans to add some PR contractors. The workload will be handled by contractors and also distributed to Text’s other offices. “We recognized more growth opportunity in our other offices than Seattle,” Friedman said.
