Dunn appointed MD at FD

NEW YORK: FD has hired Jackson “Jay” Dunn as MD of new business for FD Americas. Dunn will head up all business development efforts from the firm’s Washington office, reporting to Ed Reilly, CEO of FD Americas. Dunn worked in the Clinton White House as the president’s associate director of public liaison, coordinating support from the business community for President Clinton’s trade and economic agenda. Most recently he was as an adviser to the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign committee. Dunn is also a consultant for the American Security Project, a nonprofit, bipartisan policy organization focused on national security.

Dent appointed MD and GM of FD’s Boston office

NEW YORK: FD has hired Dan Dent to fill the MD and GM role in the firm’s Boston office. He will be responsible for growing the firm’s presence in Boston and providing senior counsel to new and existing clients in the technology sector. Dent has 20 years of PR experience, and most recently was VP at Blanc & Otus. He will report to Mark McCall, president and chief operation officer of FD Americas.

FD acquires Perth consultancy

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: Financial Dynamics International (FD) has acquired the Perth consultancy. Perth serves a client base in western Australia, providing financial communications services. The firm will now operate under the FD Third Person brand, working alongside the existing Sydney and Melbourne offices.

FD appoints Weldon to MD, tech head position

NEW YORK: FD selected Sherrie Weldon to serve as MD and head of the firm’s technology and telecomm practice. She will be responsible for growing the technology and telecomm practice and counseling tech clients across the FD roster. Previously, Weldon was the global sales and marketing lead at Text 100, where she worked with clients such as HP and Sony.

Kelly named EVP of FTI Consulting

BALTIMORE: FTI Consulting has appointed Declan Kelly EVP and chief integration officer. In this role, Kelly will be responsible for the firm’s global marketing and communications strategy, its companywide business development, corporate strategy and client relationship management programs, and implementing the company’s global brand strategy. He will continue to serve as chairman of FD US.

In addition, Ed Reilly, has been named CEO of FD Americas, effective immediately. He was previously president and COO of FD US. Mark McCall has been named president and COO of FD Americas. Most recently, he was GM for FD in New York. And Cara O’Brien has been named GM of FD’s New York office. She was most recently MD.

FTI acquires Kinesis Marketing

WEST PALM BEACH, FL: FTI Consulting has acquired digital communications firm Kinesis Marketing. The acquisition expands FD’s digital capabilities; the firm will be rebranded as FD Kinesis and will complement FD’s established design, annual report, and alternative media services unit. Kinesis has 22 employees located in Morristown, NJ and Philadelphia, as well as consultants abroad, and a national client roster.

FD aiding Goody’s in restructuring

KNOXVILLE, TN: FD’s Cara O’Brien and Shannon Stucky are working with Goody’s Family Clothing, which filed for Chapter 11 restructuring last week. The firm would not elaborate on its work. The clothing retailer has created a page on its Web site that includes information about the filing, a list of store closings, and letters to both customers and vendors.

FD appoints Roady MD

NEW YORK: FD appointed David Roady MD in the firm’s special situations group, effective June 9. Roady, previously SVP in mergers and acquisitions for Marsh & McLennan and Co. and director in corporate development for American Express, will work with clients on merger and acquisition, crisis, and capital markets communications.
